Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 2:00pm Janice was born in Beaumont, Texas, the daughter of Morris and Frances Mauritzen Birdsong. From a young age, she was taught strong Christian values and carried those values at the core of her life. She graduated at the top of her high school class. During her senior year, she met a young man who quickly became her soul mate and best friend. She and Bob McKnight went to Tyler Junior College together where she proudly became an Apache Bell. She passed away August 11, 2024 in Nacogdoches at Medical Center Hospital from complications of emergency exploratory surgery. Jill was raised in the Bald Hill/Homer communities. She graduated from Lufkin High School in 1983. From there she went to Florida College in Temple Terrace, Florida for two years. While there she was in the chorus and Split Image musical groups and got to travel to many states promoting the college. She made many lifelong friends while there. Joy Dell McSwain Berry 1941 — 2024 Joy Dell Berry, age 82, a long-time resident of Martinsville, Texas and member of Melrose Methodist Church passed away on Friday, August 9th in Mt. Pleasant after a courageous battle with Vasculitis. Joy was born on November 5th, 1941, in the former logging camp known as Camp Worth in San Augustine County, Texas, to parents, Ras and Ruth McSwain. In 1964, Joy married Patrick Berry. They had two children, Michael and Priscilla. In 1970, they moved to Martinsville where she and Patrick farmed until Patrick's death in 2019. She was born on October 1, 1943 in York, Pennsylvania to Mervin Longenecker and Frances Lehman Longenecker. Theda graduated Straughn High School in Andalusia, Alabama class of 1961 and attended Dallas Bible College class of 1964.
