The Stockholm Addiction Clinic (Stockholms beroendeklinik) has been established by renowned UK addiction treatment provider Castle Craig Hospital, part of the Castle Health Group. Castle Craig is a rehab clinic in Scotland, close to Edinburgh with over 35 years experience in providing high-quality addiction treatment.

Our patients can also be referred to the residential treatment programmes in Castle Craig Hospital or to our Irish hospital Smarmore Castle Private Clinic. We have around 39 beds in Castle Craig and a separate site for patients that come from The Netherlands. There are 28 beds at Smarmore Castle Private Clinic. Both clinics offer medical detoxification from alcohol and drugs, an intensive therapy programme and complementary therapies and fitness. A continuing care programme with the outpatient service CATCH Recovery is part of the programme at Castle Craig for most patients, however this is provided through Stockholms beroendeklinik for our Swedish patients. We can also treat the mental health problems that often arise from long-term addiction and our medical team are equipped to respond to physical health complications. Both of our hospitals have a broad range of therapies including 12 Step Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Reality Therapy, family therapy and more, so we are able to personalise the care for each and every patient.

We have specialised treatments for alcohol and drug addiction, addiction to prescription drugs, gambling and gaming, and many other forms of addiction. Dual diagnosis is common among people who are addicted, and one of our expertise areas is diagnosing and treating mental health problems that occur alongside addiction.

If you need medical detox and inpatient treatment in one of our hospitals, the process begins with us at The Stockholm Addiction Clinic. Our goal is to make it as simple as possible for you to get admitted to one of our hospitals. You can contact us by yourself, but your doctor can also refer you to us for treatment. We normally do not have a waiting list, and you can meet with us within a couple of days from the first contact.

The difference between Stockholm’s Addiction Clinic and other addiction treatment organisations, is our ability to offer a full continuing care with everything from outpatient treatment in Stockholm, to residential psychiatric care in one of our two hospitals in Scotland and Ireland.

Outpatient Addiction Treatment

The Stockholm Addiction Clinic is first and foremost for private clients and employers, and our care is tailored to each individual case. Based on our long experience from the UK, we lean towards the more international treatment tradition with an integrated addiction care. We do not divide our patients into body and soul, or psychiatry and addiction treatment. Instead, we offer both medical, psychiatric and specialised addiction treatment together as one. In our concept, addiction treatment is tailored to each individual patient and there is no need to seek treatment in many different places.

Our outpatient care program in Stockholm is designed to be flexible, while providing the stability and support that is required in order to recover. The goal is for you to have control over your own treatment, while you get the structure and guidance that you need during your recovery journey. With our wide range of different treatment methods, we are able to custom-build a treatment program while taking your previous experiences and wishes into account. If you live within commuting distance of Stockholm, the treatment takes place in our centrally located premises. Otherwise, we can also offer most of our services via video link (TeleHealth). Family therapy is always included in our treatment plans.

At The Stockholm Addiction Clinic, we see recovery as a long-term process that requires different intensities and efforts depending on where you are on your recovery journey. We are there for you both before, during and after the treatment program. Instead of dividing the treatment into primary care and aftercare, we believe that all our patients are unique and that the need for support can vary over time. Although we are limited to outpatient care in Sweden, we can offer medical detoxification and longer rehab stays at our hospitals in Scotland and Ireland. When the patients return to Sweden, The Stockholm Addiction Clinic will welcome them back with outpatient care and aftercare.

If you have undergone treatment with another care provider and need more support in your addiction recovery, we can help you through group treatment or individual treatment. We also arrange workshops and inspirational seminars for those who have been in recovery for a long time.

We usually have no waiting list and can offer a first call within a day from the first contact. If an emergency placement is needed at one of our hospitals, we can make a shortened assessment that will be completed during the admissions process at the hospital.

We know that the transition when you end an intensive program can be scary, and therefore we want you to know and feel that you have our support.
