On this web page, we have included everything you need to know to have a smooth transition to Mercy High School. Please email admissions@mercyhsb.comwith any questions.

Have you completed Registration and Enrollment?

To register and enroll at Mercy, follow the link in your acceptance email! This link should be opened and authenticated by the person who plans to complete all registration forms. Should the link be forwarded or accessed by another email address, it will be temporarily disabled. You can also log into your application account on the SchoolAdmin system. If you did not receive an acceptance email, please contact the Admissions Office as soon as possible. The online registration process allows you to complete registration forms.

Within the online registration process there is a link to setup your tuition account with FACTS Tuition Management Company. The online registration forms and FACTS enrollment must be completed by Friday, March 22, 2024.

Your enrollment with Mercy is complete when you have indicated your intent to enroll, completed all registration forms, and paid the registration fee through FACTS!

Families will receive an email in mid-July with the following information:

Please note - if you are not receiving email communicationsor if your contact information has recently changed, pleaseemail our Registrar Stephanie Jewettat registrar@mercyhsb.com. Occasionallyproviders such as AOLfilter our Gmail communications as spam.

Student Gmail

Incoming students will receive information for Gmail logins in mid-June. Studentsthat are on campus for summer programs will need to use this login to download apps for classwork.

Schoology

Schoology is Mercy's communication portal. On Schoology you can:

  • View course information
  • Communicate with teachers;receive communications from teachers
  • See homework assignments

Families will receive login information for access via an email in mid-July.

Powerschool

Powerschool is Mercy's Student Information System where you can:

  • Check grades
  • Check attendance
  • See teachers' comments

Families will receive login information for access via email in mid-July.

Magnus

Magnus is where you will upload health and immunization documentation as well as athletic-related forms. You can access Magnus through a link in PowerSchool. Directions for registration will be included in the Schoology/PowerSchool email.

Summer Programs

Transitions -Attention all incoming freshmen! Are you ready to kickstart your journey at Mercy High School with confidence and camaraderie? Look no further than our dynamicsummer program designed just for you. This course is open to all incoming freshmen who want to hit the ground running on their Mercy high school careers! Balancing academic and social activities, this program provides a foundation for their studies as well as a chance to get to know their classmates. Learn more here.

Summer Readiness -At Mercy, we believe in setting every student up for success, which is why we offer our specialized Readiness Summer Program. Designed to provide targeted instruction in English and/or Math, this program ensures that every student has the foundation they need to thrive in the upcoming school year. The Mercy High School Readiness Summer Program provides instruction in English and/or Math for those who need additional preparation for the school year. It is required for some incoming 9th graders who will be notified. Register here.

Throughout your four years at Mercy, you will take a wide range of courses. You will have the opportunity to explore new interests and develop your talents, whatever they may be! We want you to challenge yourself and discover your passions. You will find your specific courses listed on the back of your acceptance letter.

We are excited to offer freshmen the opportunity to pick an additional elective from the list below.

* Please note Pathway students should sign up for the following electives:

  • Biotechnology- AP Computer Science Principles or Introduction to Engineering Design

  • Creative Arts and Design- Visual Literacy and Graphic Design

PLACEMENT TESTS

Placement Testing: All students who would like to be placed in a higher-level math, English, language, or biology* course must take a placement test. Students who would like to be placed in a higher-level language course must take the placement test. Any student who does not take the language placement test will be automatically placed in the first level.*Students who placed into Honors Biology may request to test into AP Biology. Please contact the Admissions Office (admissions@mercyhsb.com) for more information.

  • Math Placement Testing: Thursday, May 2, 3:30PM
  • World Language Placement Testing:Tuesday, April 23, 3:30PM(French and Spanish)
  • EnglishPlacement Testing:Wednesday, May 1st, 3:30PM

Visual and Performing Arts Leveling Days and Portfolio Submission Information: Recorded demo or digital portfolios may be submitted for placement into a higher level VPA course:

  • Choir:Due Monday, April 15- Video submission of two songs of your choice and "Happy Birthday" in acappella
  • Dance:Tuesday, April 9, 3:30PMin Grassilli Dance Room
  • Art & Ceramics - Submit a digital link of your portfolioto the Mercy Art Department by Monday, April 15at MercyVPA@mercyhsb.com.
    • Ceramics - Portfolio Requirements to advance from level 1 to 2 in Art or Ceramics:
      • Proof of proficiency in hand building (3 or more projects) showing different skills including: pinch, coil, and slab. Proof of proficiency on the wheel (4 or more projects) showing different skills including but not limited to: bowl within a bowl, minimum 6 inch tall pots, wheel thrown teapot with a lid, etc.
    • Art - A portfolio of 9-10 pieces that demonstratesunderstanding of basic elements and principlesas well as the ability to use a variety of media. The portfolio must include the following artwork of any size:

      • 2 Graphite drawings demonstrating an understanding of gradation
      • 2 Paintings in watercolor
      • 1-2 Paintings in acrylic
      • 2 Drawings in any medium, still life
      • 1 Portrait
      • 1 Paper collage
      • 1 Scratchboard or relief print

TECHNOLOGY

iPad

The iPad is a requirement for all students for the 2023-2024school year as well as Mercy High School summer programs.

  • iPad Specifications:Mercy requires the iPad, iPad Air or iPad Pro with at least 128GB of memory. Do not purchase an iPad Mini. iPad model must not be more than four years old.
  • Apple ID: Please create an Apple ID using your Mercy email address (once your receive it). This is the Apple ID that your iPad should be logged into.

Additional Accessories and Devices

  • Required items:
    • StylusApple Pencil is HIGHLY recommended.(Please make sure it is labeled with the student’s name)
    • Keyboard (compatible with the iPad)
  • Optional items:
    • Portable charger for the iPad
    • Laptop (students may bring one in addition to their iPad)
    • Headphones/earpods(required for some classes)

Apps

Please do not purchase or download apps until your iPad is logged in with your Mercy Apple ID. In addition to the list below, teachers will provide a list of apps at the start of the school year.

  • The following required apps need to be downloaded prior to Orientation (or summer school):

    • Google Sheets

*Notability requires a subscription. The free version is not sufficient since this app is used for all notes, worksheets, and handouts at Mercy. Please make sure that your iPad is logged into your Mercy Apple ID before you subscribe to Notability.

UNIFORM

Mercy students have a day-to-day uniform, and a formal uniform for special occasions.

Skirt - Mercy plaid skirt
Pants - Navy and khakipants
Shorts - Navy and khaki Bermuda shorts
Polo Shirt - White or grey Mercy polo
Outerwear - Navy Mercy sweater, navy Mercy vest, Mercy spirit wear
Socks - White, black, navy, or gray socks
Tights - Black or navy solid colored tights
Leggings - Solid black full-length leggings with socks may be worn under skirt
Shoes - Predominantly white, navy blue, and black shoes

Formal Uniform:

Skirt - Mercy plaid skirt (may not be shorter than 5inches above the top of the knee)
Pants - Navy and khaki pants (traditional cut, chino style or relaxed fit, cotton twill pants. Must be bootcut or have a flare, no skinny or ripped pants)

DINING

Mercy sponsors a cashless card program through Myschoolaccount.com which allows students to make purchases on campus quickly, easily, efficiently, and helps our families reduce the need for checks and cash. The program provides a convenient alternative method of payment with just a scan of a student’s ID card. Cafe does not accept cash.

TRANSPORTATION

Transportation information can be accessed in the enrollment forms. *Routes will be finalized based on expressed family interests when newly enrolling students complete the transportation survey withintheir enrollment forms.

SERVICE LEARNING

All Mercy students are required to complete 22 hours of service each year. Students can complete these hours over the summer for the following school year.For Summer Hours: keep track of your hours, dates, and person of contact with email address. You will learn how to enter your hours in the fall during your religion classes.

Athletics

70% of all students participate in at least one of our 25teams across 15sports. Mercy Athletics is committed to creating a student-centered environment where our student-athletes are focused on pride, commitment, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect. Tryouts and Strength and Conditioning begin over the summer. Summer conditioning will take place June 17th-July 25th with General, Swim, Basketball, Flag Football, Waterpolo, and Volleyball sessions. In order to participate in Summer conditioning, all Magnus documents need to be uploaded and approved prior to participation. No conditioning on June 19th and July 1st-5th.Please see our Important Datesfor further details on submitting your required physical and being cleared to engage in Athletics.

Information on Mercy's New Student Athletics Meeting will be sent to students.

Fall Sports Tryouts:
Volleyball - August 9, 12, and 13
Cross Country, Flag Football, Golf, Tennis, and Waterpolo- August 14through 16

Athletics Physical - All athletes are required to submita physical between June 5and July 8, 2024to be approved to participate in athletics at Mercy. Schedule your appointment with your physician as soon as possible as this is a busy time.
