Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Astoria, NYC Posts: 10,159 | Not that it's legit, but next time someone pulls the scam like that, if they show up in person like mentioned above, I suggest arming ourselves and robbing them of their possessions, then telling them to shove it and move back to Nigeria, Angola, (insert other rogue African nation here) and stick to simpler pyramid schemes and promises of unimaginable wealth if only we pay the $5k to bail their royal families out of jail. I understand that everyone needs to earn a living, but making it by taking advantage of someone else isn't a fair way of doing it. If only we could cut off their thumbs like in the good ol' days. Okay okay, I'm a bit harsh, but man, some people really get under my skin. Schemers, trial attorneys (Cough John Edwards cough), and anyone who takes advantage of others knowingly, willingly, and with intent. Argh. But I guess these games are as old as people themselves, so they're not likely to stop. Just like how the pickpocketing for a couple of bucks yesterday is identity theft and bank loans and credit card bills that someone opened in your name and charge to you. It's a damn shame, and even more of a shame that people get away with it so often. /soapbox |
